This was a special morning for me. I was fortunate enough to shoot a doe with my Ruger SuperBlackhawk 44 at about 25 yards. Every deer I shoot means something and especially those with an iron sight sixgun which I find most challeging. This deer was even more special because she was the 50th deer I have taken with a handgun. The majority have been wth a scoped Contender and few with the 44. You can't measure success with numbers but this a milestone I am proud of because of the hard work, long hours in the stand, practice, and patience it took to get here. Good hunting. Matthew Nash

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I thought you might enjoy a picture of the first deer I killed with a handgun. It was 1993, I was 17 years old, and thought shooting a deer with a pistol was the coolest most impossible dream ever. I connected on the first shot and even though there have been many highs and lows I haven't killed with a rifle since! Handgun hunting has become my year round passion. I have learned a lot along the way and I am not done yet. Don't make excuses, get after it! Matthew Nash

Congrats ! My new creed: It's not what you get, it's how you get you get it.
Don't confuse shooting with hunting. Shooting is a game, hunting is a sport.
