This was a special morning for me. I was fortunate enough to shoot a doe with my Ruger SuperBlackhawk 44 at about 25 yards. Every deer I shoot means something and especially those with an iron sight sixgun which I find most challeging. This deer was even more special because she was the 50th deer I have taken with a handgun. The majority have been wth a scoped Contender and few with the 44. You can't measure success with numbers but this a milestone I am proud of because of the hard work, long hours in the stand, practice, and patience it took to get here. Good hunting. Matthew Nash

Thanks for the kind words guys. I thought you might enjoy a picture of the first deer I killed with a handgun. It was 1993, I was 17 years old, and thought shooting a deer with a pistol was the coolest most impossible dream ever. I connected on the first shot and even though there have been many highs and lows I haven't killed with a rifle since! Handgun hunting has become my year round passion. I have learned a lot along the way and I am not done yet. Don't make excuses, get after it!

Don't confuse shooting with hunting.
