Right now I have a Tender 30.30 pistol and a Encore 243 pistol. Im thinking of another caliber for the Encore on the lines of a 30.06 or a 7mm 08. Has anyone used them and if so whats your take on it ? I know they will kick more than my 243 , how much I dont know, hopefully not too much more. Ill be using them for whitetail.

I use one. I am new to it but I am quite pleased with mine. the load I use is a 150 gr Nosler BT over 50 gr of RL-15. Gets me decent groups and performs well. Took a little muley buck with it and will be using it this coming week for elk.

For me recoil from the bench is stout but not unmanagable. When I shot the buck I don't even remember it.

I used a 14" 7-08 for a number of years and loved it.

Mine was a center-grip XP.
Barrel was Mag-Na-Ported.
It was like shooting nothing with 140 grain NBT's

I have killed a half dozen elk and several deer with my 30-06 Encore; it has an SSK Arrestor brake and I love the gun. With the brake it is more of a hard but not unpleasant push straight back.

I like the 165 grain Nosler Partitions and Accubonds. It really hammers the elk.

I have used the 7mm-08 quite a bit in the center grip XP-100, and have found it to be excellent in accuracy and power on deer sized game. The recoil in my gun is not bad, but more than a .243. Mine is not ported or braked, but having that done could be a worthwhile addition.

I have had all the calibers mentioned so far and in an Encore... IMHO, get the 06, put a break on it, and never look back.

I don't have a break on my 30-06 , It's a stock Encore 15" the recoil is manageable with a TC rubber grip.

I use the Winchester 150 gr Power Max ammo in my 30/06 Encore because it will cluster three shots under a dime at 100 yards. That, and the ammo is around $20 per box at Wal Mart. With 150 gr bullets, recoil is tolerable; 165 grainers are more noticeable; and the 180-200 grainers will definitely get your attention. I just got my barrel back from MagNaPort after having it ported with the Dual Traps Plus porting style, which is four trapezoidal ports with an additional port on top of the barrel. Hoping to get to the range by next week to get ready for Texas in December.
