Ok...hate to ask a question that's been asked a hundred times, but.... A while back someone replied to this same question and compiled a list of custom holster makers. I've run searches till I'm blue in the face, but can't find what I'm looking for. I'm wanting a holster for my son's Ruger Charger and when I was looking through the (compiled list) I seen a pic of a holster with a Charger in it. It wasn't quiet-hide or pistol packaging. I was wanting one from quiet-hide but they are not in buisness at the moment and he's kinda short (my son),so the bandito rig might not work well with him. The holster will be a Christmas present; if I can get one made. He is kinda like me when it comes to carrying a handgun; does not like slings and rather have holster for protection. If who ever compiled the list could be so nice and post it again, I promise to copy it this time. Or, if anyone knows a maker that makes a holster for the Charger, it will be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, not. I had found this one earlier but no luck. The thread I'm looking for had a compiled list of 8 or 10 + or -, by one individual. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for all the feedback I may just have to go with Pistol Packaging...but, I wish I could remember that other maker.

Doc, I've been pondering the uncle mike, but I'm not sure if it will fit the charger or not. Hate to by one and it not work; don't have any local stores carrying one to try. Do you know if it will fit the Ruger Charger? I have one (shoulder holster) for the Encore/contender but the Charger won't fit it.

Try a ziper soft case with a strap before you buy a fancy rig. I use a heavy soft case and an old gym bag strap and love it. I know I am a bit goofy but it works great and cost almost nothing
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

KRal,
I tested the Charger in the large UM Bandoleer ( the model for the 14" Contender ) and it fit OK. The holster will have to mold around the forend of the Charger; however, there is room for it to do so on my holster. Like any synthetic holster, they will mold to the gun if it is left in the holster and heated with a blow dryer. Not hot, but warm. I've had mine for some years now and I don't know if Mikes has changed the specs on the holster. If they haven't, it will work fine. Mine are left handed, but I don't think that will make any difference.

Thanks for the research doc; his will also be lefthand. I couldn't seem to teach him to shoot with the correct, I mean, right hand... Now to decide on holster.

shoot with the correct, I mean, right hand More importantly, which eye is dominant. I taught my daughter to shoot lefty because of her eyes, she is righty. I am lefty, but shoot right as that is my dominant eye. We're all goofed up here.
Rod, too.

Alot of leather stores have patterns for making your own holsters. A you need is leather, punch, needles, and waxed thread. They aren't hard to make and turn out nice. He might like to make his own if you get him all the makin's for it??? just my 2 cents. Rupe

Kral have you checked out Von ringler? He makes custom holsters and they are very fine! A little pricey but will last several generations!

Well, I decided to go with the 'ole faithfull bandito by pistol packaging. Got one ordered for the charger and one for my bisley hunter that he's taken over (I've already got one, but he's wrong handed and mine's right handed).

'ole faithfull bandito by pistol packaging. It is a great system, why argue with success. Is the Bis Hunter scoped? Please post a pic or two when you get em ;-)

While we're on the topic of holsters. Has anyone used the Hardin rig from El Paso Saddlery?

Yeah they like to hide stuff... http://www.epsaddlery.com/c-18-shoulder-holsters.aspxKind of funny too I sent them an email asking a question about the hardin rig and the guy recommended the tanker rig instead. Interestingly the tanker is $70 less expensive and it's obvious the guy has never carried a handgun and binoculars at the same time. At least they responded and I give em credit for that.
