Well it all came together nicely yesterday morning. About 7:30 a nice fat doe walked out of a thicket 110 yards away from my blind, and having no venison in the freezer I decided to take her. She was facing me nearly head-on and froze in her tracks...she had seen me shift slightly trying to get a good angle on her.
I steadied the Contender in my cross-sticks and centered her chest with the crosshairs, then squeezed the trigger. She went about 30 yards and it was all over. The bullet hit dead center and exited just behind her ribcage, took out the heart and one lung. I forgot the camera, and I cant seem to figure out how to get a cell phone pic on here. The computer doesnt want to let me transfer it over to another file for whatever reason.
This morning brings high winds and rain here...so it looks like a good morning for a breakfast of tenderloins with biscuits, gravy, and eggs.

Congratulations on your first! What barrel and round did you use out of your 'Tender?

(Looks like Dan and I think alike...)

Congrats! That's a big milestone in your handgun hunting adventures!

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Way to go. Did you use the 35?

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Don't confuse shooting with hunting.

Sorry for lack of details...I ended up using the .35 Remington barrel with a 2x Weaver Classic scope. The ammo was Hornady Leverevolution and it shoots extremely well out of the 14" .35 Rem. barrel.
The last minute switch from .375 Win barrel to the .35 Rem barrel stemmed from the wife wanting her Red-dot scope back that was mounted on the .375 Win barrel...then she wasnt able to hunt. So, I loaned the .41 Mag. Contender that now wears the Red-dot to a buddy of mine yesterday. He ended up taking an 8 point buck with the .41 Mag using Speer Gold Dot 210 gr. HP's.
The weather kept me from hunting today, and I have to work this week, but I will be on vacation the week of Thanksgiving and I still have my buck tag and one more doe tag to fill.

Good job Ill bet that 35 Rem is a nice round in the contender,Im green with envy since in ND were only allowed one gun tag this year outside of a bow tag, wishin you the best with your buck tag.

Excellent deal!!

Good job. Now it's gonna be hard to hunt with anything but a handgun.

I agree...the thrill and sense of accomplishment was awesome. Doubt very highly I will use anything but a pistol fom now on in firearms season. Might even have to look into getting a muzzleloading pistol for muzzleloader season next year.
