Ok after 32 years(1979) i have added my 5th barrel........a 357 mag bull barrel.a litte history...
I have 2 30-30 barrels....1 14 inch with scope and 1 10 in with fiber optic irons

1 45 colt/410 with irons

1 22 barrel w/scope.

I have the 30-30's for medium range but wanted something for deer at short range...75 yds and under....so, i dont want a scope...should i go with a red dot or get the fiber optic irons for this barrel?........if red dot , what red dot would u recommend????...

and can someone recommend some good loads for deer and possibly small hog with unique as the powder....and bullets...sp's or cast?........thanks fro any responses...Mack

Ultra Dot. Tough and economical.

I like 180gr in my .357 Magnum handguns. The XTP would be great.

I have a Tasco ProPoint, 4 moa dot, on my 357 maggie and it works great for about $70. For about $150 you can get the UltraDot which is the best bang/buck. A heads up, like the Fastfire, J-Point or Optima would also serve well.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I too use the Ultra-Dot ( lifetime warranty )and Burris Fastfires ( Burris is much smaller ), and 180 grain slugs. I use and have great luck with the Remington 180 jhp. Can buy them in bulk and they work great on deer sized game and smaller. I've used them in 357 Mag, 357 Max, and 357 Bain & Davis. Also good luck with cast 180 grain swc.
