Due to 51 year old eyes and other reasons Im looking at a red dot for next year.
Seriously looking at the delta Point by Liepold.
Anyone use that model on a pistol yet?
Also I have a bisly blackhawk 44 (non hunter) and looking for recommendations for a mount base.
Thanks
Good hunting and be safe

Festus,

I mounted one recently on my 4 3/4" .500WE - great optic, easy to use, and very acceptable accuracy out to 100 yards with a 3.5MOA dot. I know others like the 7.5MOA triangle and use the tip of the triangle for an aiming point. But for me and my hunting purposes, the standard dot works well!

Regarding mounting options on the Ruger, I would suggest a Weaver base and using the Cross-slot mount provided - to my knowledge, the mounting kit does not have a Ruger revolver option (yet).

I was looking at one because I'm a true Leupold guy but when I read the ratings on Midway I decided against it especially because of the price. The J Point I've heard alot of good things about and it's alot less money. I also saw a new one from Millet that I thought about getting but I was able to get the tube style Millet at a good price and I've mostly heard good things about it. I think Natchez still has those on sale. You've probably seen a bunch of guys like the Ultra Dots and the tube type are less than half of the delta point and I saw they also have a reflex sight if that is what your set on. I did have a customer with a delta point and he had adjustment problems with his and had to pull it off and mount a scope since it was coming up on hunting season.

here is a link to midway for the ultra dot and leupold reflex sights, reading the feedback can be valuable.

They don't carry the Millet reflex sight, I can't remember which catalog i saw it in.

I have had good luck with the JPoint on my .500 WE as well as a Custom .475 Linebaugh.

I didn't care for the triangle as I don't want to find a point of a point when I need a quick shot. A dot is much better for my style of hunting. The JPoint is as good as any for a lot less money than Leupold. I like the Optima, but they are hard to find.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
