Ok, so I have my new Bisley Hunter 45lc. Scoped with ruger rings that came with it and topped with a bushenell elite 3200. It has been a tack driver with the 150 rounds down the pipe so far. So I went to the range yesterday set my target at 50 yards. First shot a little low and right. Then poof rounds all over the place and can't get it to hold new setting. I am using Grizzly 335 LBT GC.These have been very acurate in this gun. I took the gun home and the bases are rock solid and so are the rings and my witness marks I place on the scope to watch for any scope movement are in perfect alignment.I can't imagine the scope giving up the ghost just yet. I own 3 of these scopes and all have held up well. Any suggestions?

I can't imagine the scope giving up the ghost just yet. You never know. When they go they usually go early in my experience. Since you were shooting naked boolits, any chance the barrel is leaded?
Rod, too.

Are you just using Ruger rings or an adapter. The most common cause is normally the base or rings shifting, so how did you check it? If you just wiggled it that may not be enough, I've seen bases and rings that felt tight but still moved under heavy recoil. Are you loading CP's yourself or buying the Grizzly ammo and if so is the powder or ammo from a different lot # than the previous. Also I would doubt the scope is failing but with a scope that heavy on both ends and only two rings damage can result faster than it would normally from scope tube deflection. I run the same scope on my Encores up to the 458 Win and haven't had problems but that's not to say you might not. They make two types of Weaver adapters for the Hunters, one is a standard length base and the other goes up to the front sight, that may be something to look at if that's not what you already have.

to paraphrase David Petzal (gun writer for field and Stream), "guns rarely ever go screwy, its almost always a problem with the scope"
By the sounds of it, the scope would be my bet. Even with the best scopes there can be faulty ones in the mix

sounds like scope. but could be barrel leading, make sure base pin is not coming out under recoil. had a 4 5/8 45 start shooting crazy then relize base pin wasnt in all the way.

I bet on scope problems, too, although I haven't yet broken a Bushnell 3200. Clean the barrel and cylinder. "Shoot the box" @ 25 yds.: Shoot a 6 shot group. Go up 10 clicks & repeat. Go right 10 clicks & repeat. Go down 10 & repeat. Go left 10 & repeat. Is this group where the 1st one was? Should be close. If not, or groups are patterns scattered everywhere, send it back. That will be another test of Bushnell's "Warranty".

Ammo is factory from same lot as I have been shooting. It only had 3 rounds thru it since the last serious cleaning before this range session. The base is standard ruger and I checked the base with a screw driver. I always put a little torque seal on my bases to show if a screw has backed out and witness marks on the rings and scopes to test for shift. I never liked the ruger base rings since day one. I think I will order the weigand base and do a three ring set up on it. I will re clean it and back to the range. Bummed out as I am down to 3 days of my hunting season left. I am leaving town and wont be back till after the first of the year so I guess I have all off season to ge the bugs worked out. And this thing was a tack driver. Thanks for the ideas guys. Rod, which base would you recommend and where can I find them? Fish

here is the direct link to Weigand but you can also try Midway, Brownells, andNatchezz. I'm sure others have it too but Weigand also has a discount if you buy the rings with the base and I believe they have three ring sets. If it is the scope I haven't dealt with Bushnells customer service but most optics companies seem to be pretty decent to deal with. I'm trying to remember where I saw the full length base at but I'm drawing a blank. I'm sure someone on here that hasn't been taking pain meds knows which one I'm talking about. http://www.jackweigand.com/Redhawk_Blackhawk_Bisley_Hunter.html

I never liked the ruger base rings since day one. I have no complaints with mine. I have removed and reattached them on my SRH and they shot right where they were. I'd try another scope in those rings before I set all the blame on the ringmount. The adaptors bring even more variables into the equation.
Rod, too.

After reading this I am tempted to take the scope off my srh and see if I shoot better without it. Maybe it is the scope, it does have some nice sized marks where it was over tightened by the previous owner..

Things happen from recoil. I had a Bushnell red dot on my SBH, .44 and missed a deer at 22 yards. I went down to my range and could not keep it on paper at 50 yards, then the light went out. I found a broken wire and fixed it. I put another Bushnell on the gun, played heck getting it sighted to center. I then shot three shots at 100 yards off hand and got this group. I can now make crazy claims! Silly, silly, silly but I did do it once after a lifetime of shooting so now you guys can drool! I do NOT trust these things and the gun will get an Ultra Dot.

It is a catch 22...
more rings means better scope protection during recoil, but more hardware means more things could go wrong...
Try it without the scope, what is the worst that could happen?

if it is ruger rings that attach to the barrel, which includes NO base....it doesn't get much better than that.
