so I have another striker on its way (thanks Doc!) this one is a WSM bolt face already and should have savages large shank threading. this is 1.120x20 TPI. looking at a 15.9" barrel that is a straight cylinder, that would weigh about 4.25 pounds. is there any reason to go with something else. i would like to use the barrel nut still so a larger barrel is not an option. the stock im looking at is just over 4 pounds. im not looking to cut weight but dont really want to go over 12-13 pounds.
another question is would a repeater be a plus or not? I can go three ways here. single shot, factory blind mag and aftermarket detachable mag.
this build should come out neat. as of right now it will be this Savage striker Large shank Pac-Nor 9 twist barrel- contour TBD rifle basix trigger stock- we will just say custom for now, it will be 3 months or so out once i get the ball rolling thicker recoil lug 3 port Muscle brake scope will likely be a nikon as ive had great luck with them and they do what I need repeatability wise
thanks guys

You've not stated an intended purpose for this gun.....determine that before diving off an extreme build. Super accurate guns do not have to be super heavy.
Never heard of a Muscle brake, but Ross Schueller (sp) makes a model similar to the Holland Radial brake and it is AWESOME!!
Straight cylinder.....man, that's beefy. I had one like that and hated it. IMO, you're going overkill on the heavy side. My WSM XP and .260 Striker are big LR guns but still nimble enough that if a short range offhand shot were presented (say, walking to or from a stand) it can be handled easily. Even running badgers are not match for my WSM XP!!

What are your plans for the takeoff stock and trigger?

Ross's brake is similar to Holland's Quick discharge. It is not similar to the the radial design.
I have four Ross brakes in the cabinet and two Holland QD's also. The Ross's I have are the ones with the radiused side ports to angle the gases rearward much like pictures of the Holland Radial brakes I've seen. My QD's are straight ports that merely vent the gases straight out the sides...exactly like the DE brake on my XP. Did Ross change his design, maybe? Tyler....I'll have to weigh my XP. Also, I didn't know you had another Striker, so you know the gig with HEAVY SP's. What are you going to chamber it in? I'd vote for a variation of the RSAUM case.

OK.....digital bathroom scale has my XP-100 WSM (w/ Burris 3-12x32) weighing in at 8.0lbs. My Striker .260 Rem (w/ Mueller 4.5-14) weighing in at 8.8lbs. The only thing they were not wearing was the bipods.

You must have what became the Muscle Brake. He did make those for awhile, but I think he stopped doing that-Not 100% sure. I had forgotten about that-Sorry. Ross's brake is similar to Holland's Quick discharge. It is not similar to the the radial design.

I think what you have is similar to what is now made by Jim See (Center Shot Rifles) maybe slightly modified, but I think the same guy who gave Ross the idea gave it to Jim as well-Long story. Ross never called it the Muscle Brake that I know of. Oh....did he rename them?

this one will be a 7WSM as I own a reamer for it and have a rifle so chambered. hoping to head space the same so i can get by with my current sizing set up. seating depth will most likely not be the same but is easier to set at the die. still up in the air on the barrel. might end up with another another krieger as ive had great luck with them.

Hate you, mean it.
That was going to be my future build. I guess I will have to live vicariously through you until I save my pennies up.
Pics are mandatory now.

So I would probably like a 7mm to. You would love a 7mm.....same bullet weights as the .308" but much better BCs.
