i just recently bought a 15" 209x50 barrel for my encore handgun and i'm not sure what to top it with. i already own and love leupolds and burris, but i don't know if a scope is what i need as opposed to a red dot. at first it was going to be a 2x7 burris but i don't know if it would be the best choice for the gun. i will use it to only hunt deer and at a maximum of 100 yds. i think the field of view and more visible dot at dusk might be a better option. i don't know. what do you think?

for shots under a hundred yards I prefer a red dot, target aquisition is faster and as long as you stay between 3 and 5 moa accuracy should be fine for hunting. the only negative is that you have no magnification and you lose a little of your pinpoint accuracy. when i had my red dot on my bfr 45-70 it was 3moa and i would average 5" groups at 100yds of the bench.

the red dot i'm interested in is the burris with a 3 min. dot which i've heard are rugged. i'm not worried a whole lot with super precision. and i'll have either a rest or my faithful stoney point stick.

I'd say that ought to make a lethal set up.
