I ran across a GP100 w/ a 4" barrel. Shes about a yr old with 50rds down range. Ive got a chance to pick it up for $425. My question is could I do better on the price tag or is she worth it? I havent priced or looked at one before but she jumps out at me for some reason. I was also thinking of using it to hunt with . Whats your guys take on it ?

i have used a 6" and 4" on and off for yrs! i love them!! i just recently took a nice 6pt. at 60yrds with mine using some 180gr. bullets....did a great job. i have used the 4" alot and taken a few beaver, rabbits, and a coyote. for me the 357 is great b/c i rarely hunt were i have a shot past 50yrds. i just hunt like a bowhunter:) good luck and let us know what you decide!

btw- if you do get it, you must try some of the federal castcore 180gr. solid leads. they shoot very accurate and recoil less than most factory rounds i have shot.

My 6" GeeP with Hogue grips is one of the easest shooting platforms I have ever experienced. It is just natural, as is the SRH. But 425 bucks is a little steep for a used gun, although prices have been escalating lately. Within reasonable range the 357 is quite capable of taking deer and smaller black bear and pigs.

Rod, too.

I don't remember the exact price at my gunshop for a new one but it was in the 450+ range,so I think the used gun is kinda high.

There is a merchant on the Ruger forum that has some 4" GeeP's with the half shroud in SS that he is selling for $429 NIB. Not sure if any are left but can check it out.
