Do any of you guys have any load data for a .260 Rem. in a T/C Encore. I have a EABCO barrel and am looking for some some good long range loads for banging steel. I have some 140 Sierra MKs and some 123's of the same manufactuer. Powders on hand are H4350,Varget,H4831SC and some IMR4895. Money is tight and I choose components prudently. used Prvi Partisan 139 gr. PSP in RP cases, Win Lg. Rifle primer, AA4350, in Ruger 77 Compact, 16" barrel. Max velocity was about 2,400 fps. I expected more; however, looking in the data, most was shot in a 24" barrel. Perhaps, I was not being realistic. I am next going to try AA3100, other components the same in the Ruger and a 15" T/C Encore. Keep us informed on your progress, as I will. I've got some 120s I want to try.

From my sierra manual:

Varget Min 32.3 for 2300fps / Max 37.5 for 2600fps

IMR4895 Min 32.6 / Max 37.5

For 120 MK, no 123

Varget Min 34 for 2600fps / Max 40.4 for 2900fps

IMR 4895 Min 35.3 / Max 40.9

I use H414 w/ 120 SMK's in my Striker .260 Rem. Can look up the load if you are interested.

Got to test the loads with the PP 139gr. SP, AA3100 powder, RP brass, WLR primer. 2420 fps in 15" Encore, 2476 fps in Ruger 16" 77 Compact, excellent accuracy.

In 2010 I bought a 15" .260 Encore Barrel from MGM. I spent a lot of time developing the "perfect" load with the 120 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. I intended to use it on Antelope.

I used RL19, RL15, H380, H4350, 4064, W 760, AA Hunter, H Benchmark and Varget. Carefully working up loads in 1/2 grain increments.

H 4350 gave me the best accuracy and velocity. 2599 FPS and .600" - 3 shot groups at 100 yards.

This past fall I had a chance to fill a Doe Antelope tag, and made a great 225 yard - one shot kill.

What a great cartridge in the Encore Pistol!

Those are some nice numbers too.

Just came back from the shot show, and we spoke with the Sierra bullet guys. They use that caliber in 500, 750 and 1,000 yard competition. A buddy bought a 260 in the new FA 2008, and had an extensive conversation with the Sierra guys. Might be worth emailing them, since they have unlimited experience with that caliber.
