Some months ago there was discussion about a 28 gauge Judge series revolver prototype exhibited by Taurus. BAFT quickly told them that it wasn't legal in the US. Many opined "What was Taurus thinking". Lo and behold, check out the Rossi USA website http://www.rossiusa.com/product-details.cfm?id=222&category=15&toggle=&breadcrumbseries=The Rossi Circuit Judge revolver 28 gauge shotgun. While under the Rossi brand, it is manufactured in the Taurus factory.

It would be legal as a long gun as any repeater shotgun is, just not as a handgun (over .50 cal)

That thing could be converted really easy so I bet it's got BATF all kinds of irritated.

yep the Saiga's are cool but you can also buy the standard AK's in the Draco pistol format, this is one I did some work on.

The problem with the Taurus was that it was a handgun. There are already rules concerning converting a long gun so let's not go there. If Taurus had offered it in a long gun there would have been no legal issues. If one wants to break the law, all bets are off.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

There is a permit process but for most it's long and arduous and it can be expensive. It's basicly the same hoops you have to jump through to buy an automatic weapon.

Pretty good looking sheetmetal gun Rod-- I like the rails
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Pretty good looking sheetmetal gun Rod-- I like the rails that was part of the work I did for him those were made for a rifle length barrel so I had to modify them to fit the shorter barrel. What makes them unique is they go all the way to the front sight. He's a former Marine and Iraqui war vet and he's building a short barreled rifle. I'm going to Cerakote it for him eventually but he's still waiting on his SBR permit and once that does I can "help" him with installing the stock but since I'm not a class III dealer I can build the gun for him.

I as surprised that they didnt invent a 54 cal round to go in the 28 ga, kind of like the 45/.410 combo...
