What kind of optics do you use for a 22 hunting handgun and why? Just looking for some information. Thanks.

I put a Burris 2x on my Single Six Hunter. It was a spare I had lying around, but I've found it to be all I need for squirrels and such.

I have come to prefer the 2.5x8 weaver for my 22. It's a bargin price; has great glass; and has very fine crosshairs, which I prefer for hunting small game.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

A 4X or 2-6X as a minimum. Also depends on the gun....a Super 14 .22LR would have a 3-12X is funds allowed!

Leupold 2X or 4X depending upon the gun and area hunted.

I currently have a Leupold 4x on my Single Six. This is my new squirrel hunting rig.

Ive had a red dot on the buckmark before and wasnt a real big fan of it for squirrels. Now i have a 6x rifle scope which for most part is good but sometimes you get a close one and can't see em, so hopefully will get a variable power at some point. i think for fixed a 4X would be ideal

Revolvers then something not heavy - Leupold 4x or maybe the 2.5x8 if it's a heavy gun to start with (like a M83) and doesn't have a short barrel. Single shot then anything goes. I have a Burris 3x9 on my 22 LR Contender.

I put a 3-9x 22 Long Rifle Rapid Reticle on my Charger and MR Picuda http://www.rapidreticle.com. Shooting these rigs at longer ranges is the most shooting fun i've had in a long time.--

I have a Burris 1.5x - 4X variable on my 22 long rifle match barrel. I really like this combination for squirrels and bunnies.

What would be your preference for an Encore 454 Casull - Leupold 2x, 2x or 2.5-8x?

.....for shots under 150 yds. The 4X would be perfect.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

On my revolver i find that 2x for tree squirrels is not to bad,but if i'm shooting at ground squirrels and p-dogs i like to have 4x and up.
