I don't shoot my .357 Blackhawk much. Always shootin' my 1911s. Been itching for a big blaster for fun, but not sure if I should hang onto the .357 or not...spose I should take it out and shoot it and see if that helps. I try to keep them from multiplying in the safe, keep it down to just what I shoot. Just a blue 4-5/8", plain jane, nothin' special so I don't see a real reason to hang onto it. And the $ could go towards the .44.

The .357 is a great cartridge and is generally fun to shoot however I know what you mean regarding the .44

I find that the .44 is a do all caliber for me. Loaded down it is fun for plinking with little to no recoil, loaded up to it's potential it is a serious caliber for serious hunting.

All of that aside, even though I have 4 44's and mostly shoot those, I am not getting rid of my .357, however if you are really strapped for funds......but I would be trying to find a way to keep it.

If you can keep it, personally I would, but you should definitely get yourself a .44 Mag. JMHO.

Personally, I only sell a gun if I have to, or just don't like it.

I agree. I don't like to sell. But I also make an effort not to have a bunch of guns just because that I don't shoot or don't have enough time to shoot them all. I also refuse to have to buy another safe... I try to keep it down to just one ea of the basic calibers/uses.

If it's a great shooter hang on to it. If it's just a run of the mill blackhawk sell it. I don't sell guns unless it's to purchase another one. I can't own every one I like but I can keep several and when I get bored with one I sell it and buy something else that currently has my interest.. I used to have about a dozen deer rifles. I have since moved and built a 150 yd range. Shooting paper groups got boring to me so Now I own about a dozen handguns and two centerfire rifles. I don't own any safe queens. If there is a gun in my safe that doesn't have sentimental value and I don't want to go out back and shoot it every time I pull it out and look at it it's for sale.

That's what I think. This one is plane jane, bought it new and didn't pay too much for it.

I would sell it,get the .44. You can always go back and get another .357. Of course the best option is too have both.

Stoke up some 180 or 200 gr cast bullets in that dude and let-r rip. You may find that it is more fun to shoot with a different load.. Maybe some 90gr HP at about a bzillion FPS

Why sell it you will just want it back if I had room I would still have mine. kinda miss it at times

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

I will definitely shoot some heavies before I let it go. Main reason for getting the .44...bigger booms. :-D>

I thought s4s4u said something about getting a .45...can they be loaded up like a .44mag? Maybe share boolits with my 1911...

Shooting the 45 Colt is way more fun than the 44 Mag-- well maybe not way more --but more.. And yes you can stoke it up pretty good in the old Rugers--250 gr bullets @ 1250 is not hard at all

Won't .44s do up to 1400? I also like being able to buy ammo off the shelf...though not that much.

Absolutely. And in a solid gun you can push that 45LC real close to 454 numbers, although there is really no need to. Bigger holes hurt more..... ;-)

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I tested a bunch of .45 Colt ammo from Grizzly last weekend and the 335s were running over 1,360 fps......smoken'! I REALLY like the .45 Colt!

Buddy had his 4" 629 out. Rubber finger grooves. Definitely pref cowboy grip.

I got a 45 Colt BH and some 180s to load for the 357. Though 357 doesn't compare to 44 with the same bullet weights it seems.

Now my dilemma is 45 colt brass is hard to find.

Try Starline, Mid South Shooters Supply, should be some 45 Colt brass outa one of them.

Buy enough to last and have at least a 100 round loaded for plying on top of regular hunting stuff.
