My 500 Linebaugh project that has been back burnered during my surgery and before that by customer work is almost done. All I have left is to paint it. This is the one that I decided to Cerakote. I may have to blue the cylinder because of tolerance issues but I'll re check after the frame is painted. Here is my question I'll let you guys decide what color it will be. The choices are, graphite black, od green, stainless, coyote tan, and desert sand. I'll check this tomorrow before i start painting and the color with the most votes will get the nod. Thanks, Rod

IMHO I think graphite black would look great with the blued cylinder.

Not sure how the off-colors would look with a blued cylinder, but I have seen stainless/blued combos that looked nice. Black might be too close to blued and clash a bit, I like contrasts over near misses ;-)
Rod, too.

I would go with the stainless or graphite. I dropped a stainless revolver crawling through the bushes hunting hogs with dogs one time. Took me four hours of crawling around pig trails to find it. Had it been OD or tan it would likely still be in the woods. Kind of like all of those camo hunting accesories if it's going to be in my pocket or pack I want blaze or some other loud color.

ok, well painting time is here and although Rupe tried to stuff the ballot box od green lost. There were 5 votes each for green and stainless and 6 for black and 1 for tan so black it is. I'll post pics when it's done. I'm heading out of town for the weekend and will be getting together with Rupe to do some shooting/dog hunting and I'll talk to him about his electronic stuttering problem. I think we could use Rupe at the real ballot boxes this november though

Here is the 500, not the best pic but I wanted to get one posted. My wife is better with the camera, has too many buttons for me and I'll have her take a pic. I learned some things on this gun and found some minor blemishes but It's a shooter and until I get my customer work done it will have to stay as is. It's wearing a Millet red dot for the moment. The 454 is wearing a 2.5-7 T/C scope I just mounted to increase my effective range. I'll let you know how the 500 shoots although I didn't have all the parts on hand I thought I did so I still want to do some more work on it. I'm thinking when I fix the defects I may stripe it with either OD Green, Tan or Dark Earth. Both guns are built out of parts I consider seconds, I don't like wasting parts but yet there are some parts that may be functional but not what I would want on a customers gun. Thanks for your input and although it will most likely be a while let me know what you think about the stripes and what color I should use. Vietnam tiger stripe was primarily white, green, and black as I remember and that was the kind of color scheme I was thinking of minus the white. I'll post a beter pic when I have one.

Rod,
the one on the left is a BEAUTY! No disrespect to the one on the right, it's nice also.
Have you had a chance to try out the purple heart for some grip panels yet?

Not yet, I really want too but it's just been chaotic since I've started the business and I haven't had a chance to make any grips. I want to get some more wood working tools eventually and go back to messing with them. If things keep up throughout the year like they've started out I'll probably get either an apprentice next year and that will take some of the load off.
