I've had this H&R Sportsman 999 22lr forever and I've had this scope on and off it many times over the yrs. I never was really happy with the scope on it just cuz I felt it was too big for the gun,
My eye sight ain't what it used to be so iron sights are getting tougher to use.
Question, what scope would you put on here if you were going to put something on it just for general plinking and squirrl elimination around the house. Nothing pricey , something just for fun shooting? What about red dots?

Hells yeah....but the mount is your biggest issue. Yer gonna have to spread those rings apart or anything is going to look a bit odd. Not sure if Weigand makes a "schofield" style base. If that rail is Weaver dimensions you may be able to mount a mini-holo sight on it.

Cool gun.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Guess you're the only one with any input on 22 scopes!

I would personally, leave that one on it. If your wanting a smaller scope, well...they're not gonna get much smaller. If you want more X's, I would suggest a 2.5x8 weaver; very good glass at a very reasonable price.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.
