I have acquired a 44 SBH with a 10.5 barrel. Already have a 10.5 with a scope, a 4 5/8, and a 7 1/2. I plan to scratch up enough money to customize this 10.5, starting with the sights. The SBH front blade is fixed, so I can't replace the blade. I can, however replace the whole ramp, but with what? My problem is seeing the front sight, but I have made up my mind to be able to shoot open sights up to 50 yds well enough to deer hunt. What are your suggestions?
If I had expired young, I would have avoided the vicissitudes of old age. I reckon them vicissitudes are OK, though, considering the options.

Try this....you won't have to replace anything. Local 'smith charged me $15 to mill both sides of the sight and drill/tap then install the shotgun bead. Wanted gold but all he had in that size was silver. Still shows up great against any target.

What are your suggestions? If you haven' tried a fiber optic front sight, you may want to give them a try. Add a ORH rear peep and you have a great setup:
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I had a Freedom Arms front sight installed on a Redhawk. I like the set up. I can replace the front sights.

The ones I primarily use on the guns I build are the Weigand frt sight bases, they are the most versatile as they use any of the inserts that fit the S&W Classic. I use the inserts from SDM Fabrication which include a plain black partridge, HiViz and my personal favorite is a large gold bead made from 14k Gold so you don't have the discoloration issues you have with brass.

I ordered the front sight set for a single 10. Hopefully I can make them fit. Thanks for the help, I will let you know how they work
