The 35Rem XP-100 is on it's way.. Does anyone here have one in this caliber..? What velocitys are you getting with a 200gr slug..? I think I'll just re-barrle this XP to a 7mm SAUM or 350Rem Mag but, would like to play with it before I do anything.

Not to muddy the waters or anything...but I'm getting 2750fps from the .270 OTTR with a 140gr Hornady BTSP and RL-19.

LOL...reakin, yes a 350Rem Mag I was shooting a 300Win mag in an Encore pistol with a 16.5" barrel with out a muzzle brake If I do a 350 though it will have a brake for sure. I'm looking for a round to hammer close range blackbear and elk. I just can't think of a better cartridge than the 350mag.

If I were to get an XP, the .350 Rem Mag would be my first choice. It just does everything well. If all I hunted were deer sized critters, I might change my tune, but for bigger game, I think it would be the ticket.
Can the .35 Rem, be recahmbered, or is a new barrel in order?

How about a 338-350 Rem Mag or a 7mm WSM?

I've got a little tweaking to do on the .338 but getting 2300fps with a 200gr bullet is about the max I think. That darn .270 OTTR is just amazing me! Any loads I stuff it with shoots perfect cloverleaf groups at 100 yards that are no bigger than .75". RL-15 maxed out at 2740fps but RL-19 is doing well at the same fps with more powder and less pressure.

Dan,
Thanks! That is about what I get with my 284 Win XP (15.75 inch barrel). Of course, with the bigger bore I can push the same weight bullet faster with less pressure all other things being equal.
