If the S&W .22 Jet did not have the case set back problem it could have went on to become a most all/around survival type handgun. In June of 1964 Al Goerg used this gun to take a decent black bear in Washington defining its killing power which would allow me to say that deer size game and under, with proper shot placement, could be taken with the Jet. You also had the option of changing the gun from center to rim fire with the dual purpose hammer and using either an extra 22lr cylinder or sub caliber chamber inserts. The model 53 could have been the most versitile of them all...
