After this year's debacle with my Texas outfitter I am looking to change up things and possibly try an outfitter in NC.

Anybody know of a decent fair chase (no high fences) outfitter in NC or nearby?

Yep, Hog Heaven Outfitters of Johnston County, NC. Free ranging, and not a gimme in the least. I do almost all of my testing there.

Whit referred me to hogheaven, I haven't been able to get there yet. However, based on their website, it will be the place I would go to.

Do they allow spot and stalk hunting? From the website it looked like they put you in the stand and that was it.

The way I read it you are transported to and from stand. One of the rules are no wandering from stand. I would still give them a call and ask. If there's no one else hunting during that time they may not mind but at 2000 acres of what appears to be mostly fields it wouldn't be a good idea to have alot of people walking around spooking alot of game.

It's not mostly fields. There is plenty of thick, briar-filled woods, and swamp. I have spent more than my fair share in the woods over there. I have also done my share of spot and stalk. Depends on how many people are hunting at the time. You will be hunting at night also, and when you do that you will be in a stand. The two hogs I took last year there (a 225-lb sow and a 250-lb boar), were taken in the dark. Call Milt Turnage and talk to him. I hunt there about a half a dozen times a year.

I recommend Hog Heaven also.If you get lucky and the stars align you might get to spot and stalk, whit and I did it once if I remember right. But truthfully that area is not very condusive to stalking.
