I been looking into the 460 rowland primarily for deer hunting and was wanting to get everyones opinion of the cartridge. I have a ruger sr1911 but ive heard its not a good canidate for the conversion but i dont see what a few rounds through it would hurt until i get a more suitable gun for the conversion I wouldnt shoot more than probably 20 rounds through it just sighting it in and maybe a few rounds at deer.

Clark doesn't reccomend stainless guns, but there is some discussion of the issue in this thead under shooters bench. This thread contains more info and links to info than you could ever want to know about the .460 Rowland.

Don't think you'll have a problem with the SR1911 and clark's stainless steel conversion. Hank's link will give you a better idea of the cartridge and its possibilities.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

Also note that while Clark recommends blue guns, they do offer the kit with a stainless comp.
