I am not sure I agree that those guns were done wrong. Going back enough years that I remember the time before fancy factory camo options, I do remember camo tape wrapping more than a few things, especially bows, and the wrap job shown is not that bad.
I have the same h&R shotgun pictured, and if I broke the fore end lug, I would never use electrical tape, but how about camo duct tape, do the entire barrel and stock, and call it good. See my first point.
And the sling swivel job, well you folks do not understand tactical. With the studs so placed, you have a poor man's two point sling. The shoe lace goes over the off shoulder, and the gun rides action up on your strong side, ready for a snap shot. But the shoe string is indeed in poor taste. The owner shoould have used para cord.
