Thought that I would share with you 45 fans & redhawk fans --- noticed a 4" one on gunbroker. The ad states that they are quite rare. I would not know.
It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

I had one-- they are nice guns--I wound up trading mine off--At that point in time I had 4 Redhawks--All have gone up the road motors--all but one was replaced with a S&W of the same cal.
One ofthe guys here converted one to 454 witha SRH cylinder--very nice conversion
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Here's a before and after shot of mine. Shoots good and packs a wallop. The 45 Colt Redhawk cylinder is one beefy hunk of metal. Here's pretty good article about them. http://www.beartoothbullets.com/print.php?itemnumber=11&table=tech_notes&type=Tech%20NotesI put a 454 cylinder in mine like Whitworth but the gun doesn't really need it. Ruger only 45 Colt load 355gr at 1150fps is pretty stout. It is cool to have a 6rnd 454 Redhawk though! And it is accurate, twice I've been able to shoot clover leafs at 25yds with 355gr wfns at 1300. 45 Colt, Nill Griffe grips. I have since sanded/smoothed/rounded the grips to fit my hand a little better. I had some pachs like whitworths and they just don't fit my hand. I may try some Butler Creeks for kicks. 454, magnaported with a 45 Colt friend and some food

Whit's right, it is prettier ;-)
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

MIne isn't as "pretty" now. I gave the grips a "melt" treatment and changed the contour some for my hand. In so doing I refinished and sanded them down. For me, form follows function! Last year I sanded the "Read Instruction Manual" and .45 Colt off the barrel. Since there are no instructions for a 454 Redhawk and it says 45 Colt on the cylinder now
