Well now that things are getting slowed down and back to normal(I recently moved 6 hours south)i can start getting back into what started my crazy dream of becoming a bona fide handgun hunter. I've had handguns for years but they are all hand me downs from my grandfather after his passing and have NEVER sighted in a new handgun. Sooooooooo i'm looking to you guy's for the info. Granted the Ruger Redhawk i got for xmas isn't new other than to me i still want to understand how everyone sights in. Start at 25 yards off of sand bags is what i'm think'n but do you shoot with sights settled at the 6 o'clock position or dead center what about when you move back to 50? I know this is prolly VERY basic info but humor me please
\:\)
I wanna hear how and why you do it.

I always disect the target in half with my sights. The 6:00 hold is fine for target shooting but not so good in the field at varying distances on game. I zero irons @ 75 yards so I can reach 100 without holdover.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

That would be corret, it should leave you 2-3" low @ 100. Hold dead on from 0-100 yards, beyond 100 you will have to employ a little Tennessee elevation.

Rod, too.

Rest your arms on the bags and not the gun. You don't want to upset the way the gun recoils when sighting in and should do it as close as possible to the way you'll be holding it during actual use.
