At 72 yrs old I am not a steady as I was once was, so I built this out of some 1/2 inch PVC, 1/2 inch all thread, three 1/2 nuts, three 1/2 slip on PVC caps and one sawed in two 1/2 inch male threaded PVC plug. For now the male plug is wrapped in tape for a snug fit. I will replace that with some 1 inch shrink tubing as soon as I pick some up. The 1/2 inch nut fits snug within the PVC slip on cap at the top and only requires to be pushed in place and the cap still can be glued to the tube. Hope to test on some yotes this evening.

Hank.....72 y.o. and still looking for a better way to skin a cat......you rock, man!! Great idea.
If it works, break it apart, take pics, give quick assembly directoins and we'll post it up as an article.

Fine fine job. It looks like it will have things dead already. Good going. Let us know how it works for the coyotes.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

I did however practice sight on targets and the monopod made for a really steady rest, plus I was able to let the gun stand on its own so I could use my binos and call remote control easier. I can adjust elevation with the adjustment on the monopod or for a quicker adjustment push the gun forward or back since the monopod is not mounted firmly to the gun. Also my Vanguard bipod has a spring loaded mount that allows this.
I have an idea to improve it, so I will be going to the hardware store in the morning.

Looks great, but why did you not get a rail gun for your 1911 project ;^) Looks like you cross the spectrum pretty well with your handguns. I never did do the bolt handguns, but I sure was smitten years ago when I saw my first Weatherby handgun set.

I made some changes to the monopod today. I was going to try to incorporate a spring int the attachment point, but it turned out that it was two weak so that I dea will have to wait. Maybe a valve spring would work. Also I have a friend in the spring manufacturing business that could help. Anyway I changed the attach point with pieces shown that I picketed up at Ace hardware. The sleeve shown in the last pic is a short piece of 1/2 inch PVC. Now it is more stable standing alone, but still has enough play to adjust elevation quickly by pushing the gun forward or back.

More changes today. I found a suitable sping at ACE hardware. It is a TS-1 in their selection. I cut it down to about 1.5 inches with a grinder and also sanded the diameter of about 4 coils down with a belt sander about .015 inches so it would fit in the 1/2 inch PVC cap. I also made a new spacer out of aluminum in my lath that fits snugly in the spring. The spring is stiff enough to hold steady, but also allow for adjustment by pushing the gun. My next project is to come up with an easy way to adapt the idea to rifle use.

Hey Hank,
Looks cool, do you have a pick of your mono-pod fully extended?
