Just won an auction for an UNFIRED Ruger SRH in .480 Ruger.

I have been looking to add something larger than my current .44 Mags and the SRH was a fair price.

Been kicking around the idea of the 475L or a 500 JRH, however the .480 can be loaded up to darn near 475L levels, if need be, and should be good for pretty much anything in the world other than maybe Africa's big 5.

Looking forward to getting her in my hands and put the first round through it.

Excellent score!! I had a .480 Ruger SRH converted to .475 Linebaugh (5-shot cylinder), and it was (under new ownership and serving well) an accurate shooting, game getting, revolver. It was great even before the conversion.

I'd still be doing the happy dance if that happened to me. Congratulations.

nah, you can take the big 5 with the 480, pick your bullets smartly and shoot accurately and there's nothing walking ya can't kill with that. nice score, is it the target grey. i love that.

Yes, it is the target gray finish. Until last week I didn't even realize Ruger made these in anything but target gray but I saw a brushed stainless .480 SRH.

Congratulations on your new SRH. Don't sell the 480 short it can take any and all game the world has to offer. There are no flies on a 400 grain bullet @ 1200FPS, NONE

congrats, hopefully you will like it. Just look at some of Pasco's pictures in the bragging board, that will be enough to give you a little inspiration...

You're a lucky dude, the 480 is a great round.I cast 325 gr. bullets using the Lee mold, I hope you have as much fun with yours as I do with mine.

So what's the first game you hope to hunt with it...I'm assuming you have already started dreaming :-)

I think that a whitetail will be the first to be unlucky enough to be put in front of the muzzle. Hogs sometime next year around this time, and if I am a very good boy an elk in 2 years or so (gotta save up the $$$$).

African plains game is on my bucket list and I would go tomorrow if I could swing the cost.

Don't worry about its abilities. Just don't try and make a 475 out of it. The 480 will take anything you want with moderate loads. No need to stress the gun to get an extra few fps out of the muzzle. The animal won't know the difference anyway. Find a load that you and the gun like and go hammer something with it.

I love the 480 round. Have a Raging Bull that has taken several hogs a few whitetail deer and a decent sized Buffalo. My son shot the buffalo with factory 325 Hornady XTPs, and of the 3 round he hit the buffalo with(broadside shoulder area) only one was recovered under the hide opposite side. It retained 89% of its original weight!

i may be one of the only ones, but i love that target gray, it's unique and truly a pretty finish on a great revolver, just got my srh in the other day and i am happy to report it has the finest ruger trigger i've ever experienced and an absolute tack driver. if yours is that nice you'll be absolutely thrilled with that gun and never part with it. i need one too!!!!

congrats.

I too really like the target gray finish on them. It looks tough and it's durable.
