I have a Super 14 223 w/ the tamer . The guy I bought it from told me that he shot it with a rifle scope instead of a pistol scope. Can anyone vouch for this? I shot it maybe 5x's without any optics just to get a feel for it and put it up, now Im wanting to put it together.

It can be done easily. The crunched up shooting position with being so close to the gun takes some getting used to though.

I kinda figured that especially when the eye relief is only 3 to 4 inches. Im gonna try it to see what its like . The only bad thing I can see coming out of it is me buying another handgun scope for it

I have a super 14 in 223 with a muzzle tamer. I currently have an EER Leupold 2.5 to 8 power on it. I have put about 30 rounds through it so far. I think you could use a rifle scope on it without any problem. The recoil is mild enough. Let us know how it works out.

I just put a brake on a 223 pistol barrel to make it legal as a carbine barrel and it recoiled like a 22 so I wouldn't hesitate to do it.

asqires2,
I have the same barrel a "Super 14" blue w/tamer from T/C I have had it for years...Mine wears a 2.5 x 8 Leupold now and I have killed numerous Groundhogs and other critters with it , sweet little shooter, I just dont like the sound of the break... Im not recoil shy, and the .223 Rem really dont need a break,IMO.
A rifle scope should be fine, with a tamer it has little recoil, but I like my Handgun scope on it, thats just me. Good Luck

Good Luck I also have a .223 Super 14 without a brake, and do not feel like it recoils enough to need a brake. However, I have not analyzed the situation for use with a "rifle scope." Definitely, let us know how it works for you! Gregg

asquires2 I have a 223 without a brake. I did have a rilfe scope on it for a while. Recoil was not enough to hit you. But I could not keep it still holding it that way. I have Bushnell 2x6 pistol scope now. You may like it , give it a try.

I had a 15in Contender in 6mm TCU shooting 70gr projectiles with a 4-14 rifle scope on it. It was capable of shooting sub ½ groups at 100 yards and it never hit me once… FWIW

I got the critter getter on paper today with a BSA rifle scope and to be honest its not bad at all. Its kinda weird holding a scoped pistol 3" from your face but other than that she was cool. It kinda reminded me of a close quarter critter sniper. Not to mention she held a 1/2" group at 50yrds and she wouldve done better than that if I wouldve slowed down. Its gonna take some getting use to for me but I think she might be a keeper.
