Asquires, The only thing I've used is the Bog-Gear accessories. I have both the PSR (Precision Shooting Rest) attachment and the XSR (Xtreme Shooting Rest) for my Bog-Pod tripod. Pricey, but rock solid and quality gear... Bog-Gear Precision Shooting Rest Bog-Gear XSR Rifle Rest

Dur, do you use that in the field? If so how long does it take you to set it up? How well does it work from a tree stand? Looks like it would be rock solid

The "V" top part of the monopod sold at wallyworld unscrews and is a 1/4 thread same as a standard camera mount. I took one and put on a camera tripod I got at a yard sale. I use this rig for long groundhog fields wher I sit in the back of my pickup. Total investment was about fifteen bucks.

Cfish,
Quick to deploy, and the attachments are quick detach. I've used it from makeshift ground blinds and tents...leg extensions are metal as opposed to fiberglass/plastic, so very durable, but they make a little noise when you extend them.
I haven't used it from a stand, as most of my fixed position tree stands (and climbers for that matter) have a rail system/rest of some sort. Hard to beat the shooting bag for a rest from there

I looked at the Bog Pod and have almost pulled the trigger. I have a camera tripod rig which is cool but I was thinking of something you can actually lay your TC's in while you wait. My goal tomorrow is to put something on those lines together tomorrow, pics will be posted .

I made this today with a piece of 1/8 by 1.5 in. steel 12 inches long. Drill and tap in middle with 1/4-20 and 5/8 all thread drilled and tapped 1/4-20 on end to mount v. 2 nuts to adjust height for differant guns. You need fairly heavy duty tripod to be steady.

Very nice. A good camera tripod is pretty tough and steady.

Dur, thanks for the info. I may have to get one of those. I do a lot of spot and stalk on the farm and its often hard to find tree to rest on.

Where could I look at the claw Ernie? The one I put together looks similar to it but it has a alluminum head and I dont have the tripod with all the adjustments yet.

Not at the moment but it a 1/4" thick alluminum channel cut to 5" long. With a 1/4x20 hole drilled/tapped to take the camera tripod stud. The channel is 3" across the bottom and I had it cut 2" hi. I wrapped it in 1" weather stripping to protect the stock/foream. I'd like to wrap it in some type of fabric to dress it up a bit and put a more stout tripod on it.

Nice job. I would say that some plaid fabric would dress it up just fine. Maybe some fuzzy dice for wind direction.

What works great is a surveying tri-pod. They are made with foot pads to set them into the ground. You can build a wooden frame for a rest. They have a 1/2" threaded stud to mount rest. It will be heavier , but more stable.

Well what you could do is what I did, though I have not shoot off it but use it for quick shots with the camera. Take a 2" piece of PVC and cut off a 2" piece then chut it in haf, across the diameter. drill and tap a 1/4" hole in the middle of the U. Add padding and you shoud be good to go. I am thinking of trying it. But nesseity is the mother of invention. cheers
