Sweet, I've got my eye out for a .223 barrel for my encore. I'm not even sure if they make one for that gun, but I want one. Mud, is that your first t/c? They are fun. I bought a "new gun" for 125 bucks just by picking up a new barrel. Pretty cool. What is the intended use? Yotes?

yes the leupold came on it and it is my first t/c. i want to hunt deer with it but i feel that the 223 is on the lite side so for now it will just punch holes in paper. i do plan on getting another barrel in either 30/30 or 7- 30 waters

Both are good choices but don't forget the .357 Maximum. It will do what the 30-30 can and is easier to load. I also shoot the Waters and it is a legit 200 yard deer killer with the right bullet.
Rod, too.

mudmixers9, I've often dreamed of one of these for coyotes here in Illinois. P.S. I wonder if your handle comes from carrying hod? Steve

Mud,
Great handgun choice, and it looks like a pretty good deal. Those 223 barrels can be very accurate with a little load workup.
Hod or HOD may refer to:
Brick hod, a long-handled box for carrying bricks or mortar Hod, term for a Coal scuttle, bucket-like container for carrying coal So either that, or you like playing with your favorite 4x in the muck ;^)

Mud,
Sweet deal on a great caliber!
I think he's asking if your screen name refers to carrying/mixing mortar...
So what's the origin?

ok i don't know much about contenders but i was wondering if the new barrels will fit on this model contender? With the AA barrels out there that is not simple a yes or no answer. Most of them are 100% completely interchangeable, and that is a good thing. There was a black powder barrel made for a while that was a G2 only, however, I don’t think it is in production any longer. The Armor Allow barrels mentioned earlier are the exception to the rule. TC use to reconfigure them for free, I don’t know there polices anymore…

is there a different hinge point on the new g2's that they barrels maybe different The G2 and the Contender are the same as far as hinge location. The AA barrels and frames have a smaller hinge pin, but it is also in the same place as the others.
Rod, too.

For carry, I just use a paintball bag that I got at Dick's sporting goods. I dont' see the contender as a 'quick draw' kind of gun. I often carry two handguns, one iron sited .44 mag for 'close work', and a scoped T/C for the longer shots. I dont' load up the T/C until I'm set up at my hunting site. $30 for the paintgun bag in digital cammo. Also works well to carry 3-5 "regular" guns if I'm going to do a little plinking somewhere other than the front yard.
