I have all but demolished my shooting wrist with work. I don't think the .44 Mag is in my future for long, unless an Encore/G2 would tame it a bit, being more ergonomic. Not interested in brakes because of the noise.
I am actually thinking about a .243 Winchester. Can anyone compare a .44 Mag Bisley or Plowhandle (1100-1200 fps loads) to a G2/Encore in .243 for me? If I can't find something that works, I'll have to stick with rifles, and that just ticks me off.
I am actually also thinking about getting a wooden thumb-hole butt stock and cutting it down for a (T/C) pistol. I like the way it fits me on my Encore ML. Keeps the wrist straight.

Also thinking this butt stock surgery would prove itself in another interesting way. I could inlet a threaded insert and fashion a custom butt stock to use on a rifle frame (or just epoxy the thing into a round mortise). This would lighten the load significantly and provide me with a perfectly fitted gun. Shorten the rifle barrel and it'd make a fine carbine. Dreams!

between the 223 and 44mage bisely There is a lot of room in that window ;-) The Encore is heavy enough that it should tame the 243 down pretty well. What distances do you intend to hunt at?
Rod, too.

From what I remember, my 257 Rob AI was less recoil than my SRH in 44 Shooting 300gr XTP’s. FWIW…

Why not drill & tap the Mag, throw an Ultra dot 30 on a Weigand base, and shoot some light recoiling .44 spl loads. Between the added weight and slower velocities it should serve you well, for under $300. into it. And you cay take everything off if you weren't happy with it.

Literally, just holding the Bisley is abusive to me at this point. I should probably wait until I heal a bit to make this decision, but my fear is that I won't be able to shoot enough with the Mag to be proficient. A scoped G2/Encore is something I'm used to already. I'd also probably use wapitirod's method (and wapitirod!) of cutting down a rifle barrel so I could have a full rifle-sized fore end. Being able to apply an isometric pull from the front may help out a lot.

I have yet to have a shot over 40 yds, but 150 or less would be good. You should look into the 7-30 Waters. In a heavy gun like the Encore it would be a cream puff for recoil, and deadly to 200 yards. I have a Contender in it a with a 13" tube and it is pretty easy shooting even in the lighter gun.
Rod, too.

Get a 6MM TCU very low recoil and should work for just general long range shooting.. Would be on the edge but may work for deer at under 100 yds.. Maybe a 7mm TCU and 120 NBT's --just a bit more recoil there-- either of the above in an encore platform with a heavy taper barrel would be almost zero recoil
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

I have a solution to the whole thing. Why not learn to shoot left handed? Seriously, its not as hard as you think and with a little practice you could be just as good as with your right. Just a thought.

Why not learn to shoot left handed? I think that has more to do with the eye. I am left handed but shoot righty because my right eye is dominant. It is awkward for me to cross my head over to get my good eye over my left hand. An eye patch could alleviate that, I suppose, but it ain't normal ;-)

This sounds good. I can reload also, so no issue there. I also like the rimmed cartridge for the Encore platform.

I put brakes on hunter models for a couple of guys on here and that made a big difference for them. The 44's were bothering them so I put the same brakes on their revolvers that I use on my encore barrels. It does a couple of things, it lengthens the barrel putting more weight forward which helps with muzzle flip and then it also has the action of the brake which really tames thing down. If it's primarily a recoil sensitivity issue and you'd rather hunt with your revolver that would one option for you.
as far as plow handle vs bisley normally the bisley will transfer the recoil more straight back whereas the plow handle will roll which in a 44 isn't too bad. I know with my big bores if I shoot my plow handle and bisley 475's side by side the plow handle is much harder on my wrist because it's trying to roll my wrist upwards instead of straight back into my hand.
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist

No brakes for me. Don't need the noise.
I may be jumping the "gun", since I have yet to try the .44 with my wrist, but I am sure no matter what, this gun is desirable, particularly for your customers wapitirod.
