I trade mine for guided fishing trips--two trips paidin full = 450 acre lease 20min from home
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

IN NC we are paying on average around 7.00 per acre. You can find it cheaper but its not prime land usually. Some places its as high as 12 per acre. Sounds like you guys are paying less then 8 per acre and sounds in the ball park if it produces well for you.

Sig,
It depends entirely on the extent of the lease - are you looking for just deer hunting "rights", or access and hunting all year round?
Deer only leases in NC/SC can range from $10-15/acre on the smaller tracts, and discounted for larger parcels. Factor in turkey, duck, dove, etc and per acre lease price can rise. Proximity to larger cities makes the price escalate as well.

Dang dur, where are you guys paying that much? In Halifax county, one of the highest producing counties in NC its still going for around 8 an acre. Some places a little higher.

Close to Charlotte in the upstate of SC = $$$. I have some smaller tracts that I lease there that one can be in the stand from the almost downtown in 30 minutes. Paying for convenience there. Also gets expensive in the Lowcountry of SC as a bunch of FL and GA residents take advanatage of the August 15th start date. More competition for lease, more $$$.
Leasing larger tracts from paper companies, investment firms, etc. locally it drops significantly. We probably average closer to $7/acre on my hunt club here at the coast, but we're leasing 5500 acres But those are primarily pine plantations, cutovers, and wetlands down here.

Ya we are leasing 3600 between 12 of us. And we are paying 9 per acre only because we limited ourselves to how many folks we wanted hunting there.
