I know this is a handgun sight, but there are a lot of T/C guys here and Iw as hoping someone could help me.

I have a friend of mine who is not getting any younger and has given me a TCR 83 with six barrels (22 Hornet, 223 Rem, 243 Win, 6.5 TCU, 32/40, and 35 Whelen). All of the barrels wear the same typr of scope (Leaupold Vari-X III, 2.5-8x32). He also gave me dies, brass, and a lifetime of bullets for each caliber. Question is, what is this rig worth? I feel bad that he bestowed such a nice gift on me and would like to return the favor to him.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Looking on Gunbroker the guns with one barrel go for about 7-8 hundred and barrels about 150 to 200. Of course there shold be some value for the scopes on top of that. He must think a lot of you, that is quite a gift.

Just remember to take that rig out and use it!!!

I still have to make myself take out my Grandfathers old 1964 custom 270. He bought all the parts in Belgium when he was still in the Air Force and they were assembled in DC…

I'm taking the 6.5 TCU out tomorrow if the weather holds. I have always read about them but never shot one. With my luck I'll fall in love with it and want a barrel for my contender. Whew! Now we can get back to handguns.

Hey Hammer,
As one who is also not getting any younger, my concern with stuff that I value is that they will get to a good home. As you age, you find you have to much 'stuff'. You try to pair it down so that you have the stuff you need and want. I have my guns listed in my will. Grampa's shottie has particular instructions with it ('35 winnie mdl 12). My goal is not to get money for it, but to get it to where it's value will be appriciated. Bag some gurb with those guns and show off the harvest to him. I'm guessing that's what he is looking for anyway.
Take care,
Dogsbreath

Hammer,

Such a nice gift! I'm with dogsbreath and the others, shoot it and have fun doing it...your friend will appreciate it more than any attempt to repay the cash value. Maybe spring for this fall's hunting trip? Put him on some game that's been eluding him? Go make some more memories with him - that, like your friendship, is priceless.

Thanks for all of the responses. As for my friend, he is still moving around pretty good and has said that he can't possibly shoot everything he had if he took three rifles a week to range over the course of two years. Do the math, that's a lot. I was at his house yesterday for my normal Monday visit. We went through all of his contender barrels and I believe I will end up with them soon. I'll keep you advised. Might be selling some of them along with TCR barrels.
