Does anyone load the 240 XTP Mag with H110 or W296 in the 45 Colt Ruger Only loads?

I have loaded some, as well as the 240 Sierra and the 250 XTP.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

If your shooting it out of a Ruger single action, i think that you would have to push it pretty hard to get it to open up. If it were me i'd go with the 250 XTP.JMHO

I use the 250 over 2400 with a mag primer--I like that combo better.

When I loaded the 240-I used it in the 454

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

talked to the tech guy at hornady. the opening velocity for the 240 mag is 1100 fps, for the 250 is 700. so if i ran the 45 colt to 1500 fps it'd work great and you'd be over the expanding threshold out to just over 100 yards.

Here is a good chart showing the recommended velocity range of Hornady pistol bullets.

Happy anniversary.

I once loaded up 27.6 grains with a 240, shot good on paper. Never killed anything with it tho. I've since gone with the 250.
