Thanks for all the comments. I am REALLY liking that Colt. The "chuck" shot was the first one with a new load, well new bullet old load. It was in the eye, but was not a long shot at all. He was on a creek bank and I was next to a building only 10 yards away. They are living under the building and destroying the bank with their digging. His eye was a good aiming point!

I went on to shoot some more with that bullet, a 240 RNFP loaded with Power Pistol. It is going to be THE load for that gun. I have never taken a deer with a fixed sight gun but may be giving that a try in the fall. Not too keen on that bullet shape for bigger game though. I have been shooting RCBS 260gr. Keith bullets and they are ok but shoot high. The 240 gr. is right on the sights. Plenty of time to work that out though. I need a good 240 gr. with a nice meplat. I ordered a Saeco mold yesterday that is flatter nosed than the Missouri Bullet I used yesterday.

What load are you shooting out of her.

Thanks! I am shooting 8.2 grains of Power Pistol. Tried the "tried and true" load (Skeeter) 7.5 Unique with the Keith bullet and it shot REAL high. About 8" at 25 and more like 12" at 50. The Keith with PP was about 3" high at 25 and switching to the 240 grain bullet put it dead on.

The 8.2 Power Pistol load does right at 1000 fps with low extreme spreads. I really like that one.

That is plenty for a lot of critters within reasonable range.

Never tried PP, how does it meter and is it clean?

It is by far the cleanest powder I have ever used. Brass after firing does need tumbling in most cases. I always tumble cases after each firing, and with the PP I usually wait until the third loading, and then they still are not very dirty. It meters very consistently too. I use a Dillon 550 and when spot checking loads I rarely find a charge that is not spot on with a digital scale.

The most amazing thing to me with this powder is the low extreme spreads. I have fired strings over "the screens" and thought my chronograph was not working they are so close together. The velocity is up there without the pressure as well. According to Brian Pierce the 8.2 load in the special with the heavier Keith bullet still is below 15,500 psi.

Thats nice to know about PP. Im a big fan of 2400 and Unique. Neither of them is clean. Very nice shooting and awsome Colt. Thanks for sharing the pic with us.

The only problem I have with this one...I seem to be neglecting all the other "boys" in the safe now.

I tried the Saeco 240 RNFP's with my load of Power Pistol. Shot a nice tight group at 25yards right on the fixed sights. I wish they had a little wider meplat, but they shoot so good I think I have found the one for this gun.
