I recently came into possesion of a 6.5 TCU. With the 1:8 twist it really likes 140 gr Accubonds and Ballistic tips. With 24.5 gr of H335 I'm getting 1950fps from a 20" barrel. My question is, does anyone out there hunt big game with the 6.5 TCU or is it just a fun cartridge to shoot?

There are quite a few guys who hunt with TCU's. With the right bullet you can make them a 150ish yard deer gun. I'm not sure that the heavy pills would perform very well on game at TCU speeds.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

The problem is my 1:8 twist barrel only shoots 140 gr bullets, everything else just patterns. I gues out to 150 Yards it doesn't matter.

I've used the below in my 10" and 14" with excellent success on Mule Deer, White Tail and antelope out to 165 yards.
