I have a Hornady Reloading book and man the information to read! I could not understand how to know when you should full length resize a case and when to just resize neck only. I plan to start out with my 30-30 and then move up to the 375 JDJ.

I can't wait till the chance to the load up some 30-30 ballistic tips and see what they do.

If you are using a single shot or bolt action, you can full length size and then after that just neck size and you will generally get better accuracy (though sometimes not a whole lot). I have a T/C in 7 tcu and 30 herrett and this is what I do with them. You full lenght size so the case is formed to the chamber of that particular gun. Hope this helps.

make the fired/resized case fit the gun. adjust the size die up/down acordingly. the better the case fits the chamber, the better results you will get. you do not want the case too loose in the chamber, nor do you want it too tight. adjust for "headspace".

I only full length resize when the shell is to be used in a different firearm.

As Kyode said. I F/L everytime with a 0.001" bump on the shoulder. Just screw the die out until the bolt closes eazy. Necking only, the case will become tight sooner or later in the butt of the case. Some F/L every 3 fireings. I started this for my 600 yds and 1000yd benchgun. If a case come up tight, that shot will be out of the group. I like it the same everything.

Ditto

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
