I was driving home from work Friday morning April 6 and saw 4 deer out in the field. One was a nice buck and he still had half his rack. If the other side matched he would have been about a 120" eight pointer. I have never seen a deer this far into spring with last years rack still on. What is the latest anyone has seen a rack still on a buck?

Same here. There was a 110-120 class eight point on the side of the road with both antlers. My buddies dad tried to kick them off on his way to work, and they wouldn't budge. He stopped on the way home to cut off the rack, but was too late.
Also, my father in law has already seen deer with nubs growing this year.
Crazy season! What's going on? We didn't find sh!% for sheds this year either.

Maybe they are keeping their antlers longer this year in case there is a zombie attack.

I've seen 'em in the middle of May with both antlers.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I work in the oil field. On the way to the pad yesterday, saw two fork horn bucks with all still attached. I was a bit surprised myself!

Headed to the woods in 3 weeks to search for sheds. I will report my findings when Im back from that trip. I hope the chiggers took a beating this winter.

I saw a small buck with antlers in June once. The elk and deer here are both in velvet by june but I think it may that way the further north you go. Our peak rut is oct/nov and the racks are normally gone by february/march and then new growth starts immediately. I saw a bull a couple years ago while I was spring bear hunting and he was 7x7 in full velvet and easily already over 300" and still growing. I don't remember when it was exactly but spring bear ends the last day of May.
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist
