Hello, my name is Heather Nash. In 2010 I traveled to Wyoming with my husband for his HHI antelope hunt. He posts here under the name Cmnash. This October we head to Wyoming for my antelope hunt with Gregg Richter. I worry what I have got myself into but my husband has confidence in me. Handgun hunting isn't exactly my thing[ I'm a rifle hunter] but I have had success in the past.

I shot this hog on Cumberland Island with a 357 max. It was a 2 1/2 mile walk back to camp.

I shot this alligator with a .357 revolver.
Now I am preparing for antelope and prairie dogs.

This target was my first shots at 150 yards with a .223 Contender. I worry about kick and will move to a bigger gun after some more practice. I will keep this thread updated until October.

PinkTC,

Welcome to HH! With your practice, previous experience, and a handgunning mentor by your side, you're gonna do great. By the looks of things, those speed goats are in trouble!

Looks like you've handled the 357 Magnum and Max well...What caliber are you planning on using on the 'lopes in the fall?

Best of luck to you!

Pink,

Welcome aboard. As you already know, you are in good hands with Gregg. He knows the drill, and should make it a lot of fun.

Two suggestions, practice now how you will be shooting in the field, be it sticks or pack or bipod. And second, tell Gregg not to make it too easy, as it is great to tag out early, but sometimes it is more fun to enjoy the hunt "longer" ;^)

Welcome to the site. I'm sure you'll do just fine in October. You've already killed more stuff with a handgun than most hunters ever will.

Welcome PinkTC. That Gator is an awesome handgun trophy! Got one on my bucket list.

Welcome and excellent job so far, I'm sure the hunt will go great. If Gregg slacks off just kick him in the shin, just not the one he broke.

Pink, welcome aboard. You are going to love that hunt. I was on the 2010 HHI hunt. It was a great time and Gregg was/is a truely fine guide. Good luck and keep us posted on your progression and preperations, although from the look of things your not going to have any problems.

Hey guys, Heather is the real deal. She hunts as hard and shoots better than any guy I know. She is a very accomplished rifle hunter with dozens of animals including some really good bucks and boars.

If you guys make it out here a little early, I can take you to a range that is about 17 miles South of Gillette, that has steel targets every 100 yards, from 200 yards to waaaayyyy out there.
It would give both of you the ability to check your zero as well and practice at distance if desired.

Could you build me a pink revolver? We are trying to figure out how to make my gun pink for the antelope hunt.

Cmnash, you have a keeper!!!!!!!!

I am just appreciative that my Wife likes to hunt and fish… LOL However, she did steal my Rem 700 CDL SF… I don’t know about that one…

I LOVE the Encore! If you are interested, there is a gentleman that could make a black and pink laminated set for you Pink TC. Just throwing it out… He goes by Georgia Jim on SP and does great work. My Laminated sets on the Bragging Board are all done by him…

what type of gun are you taking hunting? I'm sure either Cerakote or Duracoat have pink. I prefer the Cerakote but have never had a request for it so I'd have to check and see what they have available. But I'd be much more inclined to do that for a lady than Gregg. If I built one for him to use word could get around and it might be embarrasing for my business

Pink, from the look of things you are a great hunter already. A gator on the trophy wall is something most of us dont have. I too am curious as to what caliber you will use for your hunt? Mr Richter is known far and wide as a great guide so Im sure you will be in good hands. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

FYI-On the HHI antelope hunt, there are no guides.
Sometimes Gregg will be there with his video camera or along for the ride to enjoy the hunt with someone. If so, then that hunter would be able to enjoy his experience and wisdom.

Ernie is correct. And on this hunt I hope to film the girls as they successfully take their bucks. There is another female hunter coming with her hubby, also.
