Is the IMR 4198 powder acceptable for a 150 grain nosler ballistic tip? I want to start at a 26 grains but cannot find any data tables for the IMR 4198 and 150 grain bullets. The only data I can find is for a 125 grain bullet.

my nosler reloading book has IMR 4198 with the 150grBT bullet starting load 22gr and max 26.gr They also list the max load of 26grs as the most accurate load.

Found data for a 150 Sierra and IMR4198. Says 21.5 min and 23 max. I think 26 would be a pretty high start load.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

You are right Rod, it is worth being cautions and working up loads. On the flip side, I find that Noslers data is pretty close. The difference in the loading data is probably just simple bullet design…
