Started life as noted in my previous post. A basic M.500 with a Weigand base, weaver quad rings, and a black moly with bead blasted sylinder.

That looks great! I have two .500 Smiths, the long and the short factory versions. I am curious as to how the finish will hold up during cleaning. Both of my .500's get VERY dirty after firing and require a wire brush to the forcing cone area and the frame.

good looking gun , I've been thinking about doing something with my 500 and 629 classic.

Recoil, so far Hoppes has not damaged it, but I would not take the chance with a brass or wire brush. Let me know how yours turns out!! I've never really had to brush any of mine except through the bore. As you can, theve only been shot 2x since getting them done, and they still look new. I am pretty sure a holster is going to rub teh finish on the .44. If you look close, you can see i had swivel studs added to teh .500; shotgun under-rib on barrel, and stud repaced the Hogue screw; Rod, the guns were refinished here in Zieglerville, Pa. Send me private email and I'll share his name. He has a web-site and does a lot of refinishing. He doesn't advertise here so I don't want to take anything away from those who do. Only time will tell with respect to durability. I can't wait to see how the 500 fairs in Colorado this year. I'll probably cry, but then, it is just another tool; albeit a very expensive one!

Hey now, I like that look!! The Black and silver go well together. I'll bet that it does reduce the flashiness of the stainless.
I have a SRH in 44 and 480. I thought about finding someone that could match the target gray finish of the 480 for the 44. I like that color and think it reduces glare. I wonder if Ruger would refinish the 44??? Might have to give them a call.
