Finally got to shoot my Springfield Loaded model 1911 this past Saturday. Shoots really good. Got my reloading dies and acc. for it. Does anyone have a nice target load for it, lets say using a 230 gr. FMJ bullet? Not worried about a hot load just an acccurate load. Thanks in advance.

I never got the accuracy I wanted from 230grs but 8.6grs AA#5 under a 185gr Nosler is a legit tack driver from any .45 I have shot it in. Kicks like a cap gun. reflex264

I like 8 grains of HS-6 with a 230, and a WLP primer. Runs around 850 fps.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I haven't had much luck with 230 grain being a "tack" driver.

185 Nosler or 185 grain Hornady XTP's and 4.2 grains N310 works well as does 5.2 grains of WW231. 230 grain cast and 5.5 grains of WW231 is OK but I think you'll find the 185 and 200 grain bullets more to your liking in the accuracy department.

When you get ready for the heavies, like 255 to 265 grain cast bullets you might want to try N350, as it will move them out pretty good.

If you want to stay with jacketed 230 grain and you have a need for a little more speed - say 950fps with no pressure signs, then N350 might be for you. There's other powders out there that will do the same but I kinda like N350.

The most accurate .45ACP load I've found was 230gr XTP over 10.6gr AA#7 with large Federal pistol primer at a length of 1.260.

5 rounds in 1.5" and one called flyer to make it a 3" group. I didn't buy enough bullets to do a whole lot more testing but that result ain't bad. 25 yards, ironsighted 625. 870fps ave.

I shoot a 230 Cast RN bullet made by Sutter (Midway Bulk)--use a WLP primer and 5.7 Gr of Unique.

This load shoots well in all my 45 autos and feeds great.

This is a mild target load.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Berrys bullets 230gr jacketed, over 5.2 of bullseye. WLP, 1.2" at 910fps. Drop it down to 5.0 for 890 fps.A little ditry but a lot of loads from a relatively cheap powder.
