Hello I recently purchased a 260 encore barrel and am looking for a hunting bullet for it. I am currently looking at the sierra 120 pro hunter, sierra 130 hpbt gameking, and hornady 129 sst or the interlock. Any one have any experience wtih these bullets or suggestions? Not a big fan of noslers never had good luck with them. Any information greatly appreciated. thank you

What is the length? If 15" or more, you can use whatever you use in your long gun with similar results, but at about 200 to 300 fps slower give or take.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Hay Rod, Unless Encore460 changed the post, it is listed in the title as 15in my friend. On the flip side, Rod is right on, you will loose an average of 300fps going from a 15in pistol to a full 24-26in rifle barrel.
My question is, what is the intended quarry?

Encore,
I've used the Hornady 129gr SST out of my 6.5/270JDJ with great success on deer and hogs. In terms of bullet construction, I would rate it as "medium soft", providing large exits on both broadside and quartering presentations. I have several friends that shoot the 130 gr Accubonds out of 6.5x284's in pistol platforms with great results from deer-sized critters on up...your 260 should be in the same rough ballpark as those cartridges. I'm planning on shooting the 140gr Berger VLD in my 6.5/284 XP, as I've had good luck with those out of a long gun (gasp) in the same caliber.
I'm getting ready to do some more experimenting with the 6.5JDJ and 6.5 Grendel's in the pistol length barrels - since their MV's are a little less than my faster 6.5's, I'm opting for the 120gr Nosler BT for a wider range of performance.

I have a Savage Striker chambered in 260 Remington and my favorite bullet is the 120 grain Sierra Pro-Hunter. It is excellent on deer size game and I can get 100 yard groups of less than 1/2".

I have been looking for those bullets high and low online and cannot find anyone that has them in stock. I cannot also find them in my local firearms stores either. Its getting really frustrating.
