Well I've been looking for another 44 for a while. I called a few gun shops in the area and lucked out with the last one I called. It is a SS, 5.5" Redhawk 44 mag. It's used and came with an extra Pachmayr Presentation grip. It looked like it was fired very little if any. Very light ring around the cylinder from the cylinder latch rubbing.
I took in a S&W Model 410 that they gave me well over what I paid for it.
Now I need to decide if I'm going to leave it alone or send it off to someone to have the barrel cut down to 4" for a new packing gun. If it do, I need to decide between Bowen, Gary Reeder, Mag Na Port or Jack Huntington to do the work.

Gary Reeder has a new redhawk custom called the nighthawk. I am going to send mine to him next month to be worked on. Here is the prototype

I saw that but I also like Bowens Alpine conversion. I need to figure out which one I want. So many decisions so little money.

Are you going to get a Bowen 5-shot conversion or stay with the 6-shot. I really would like to have the rebore to 500 linebaugh if he still does them but I do not know which way to go either. If it comes to cost I will go with Gary. And if not I will go with BCA

That nighthawk sure looks sweet, but I'm still lusting after either a 4" nickel plated model 29-2 or one of the Lew Horton 3" model 29 or 629's. I think the Lew Horton would be the ideal packing gun for me. I just can't imagine anything more powerful than a .44 mag in a 3,4, or 5" gun. It hurts just thinking about them.
