This is a pic of my FA83 in .44 magnum I bought a few months ago. So far I have about 300+ throughout the barrel. Loading soft .44 loads and working up to get used to the pistol. Using Titegroup and 240 gr. LWSC.

That is debateable ;-) Sweet gun, none the less.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

1911, John Taffin did some extensive reload testing with the
FA`s 44mag and listed his results in the FACA journal. I`am sure one of the reasons they were only in the journal was so the info was not used in other make 44`s. I used one of his loads under a 240gr XTP and was amazed at the terminal effect on game when put in the right place. However, because of the tight fit and tolerence of the FA`s you can expect a gain in velocity with factory ammo that justifies the high price. These guns are more accurate then I will ever be able to shoot them and will last through a few generations. Congratulations and good hunting on a well made 44.....

There isn't much, if anything, that you can't kill with a 44 and the right bullet.

sc1911,

That is one beautiful FA! Makes me wish I had followed up with John

As discussed, my 7.5" 44 is SUPER accurate with Hornady factory 240XTP's. Your 44 is capable of putting down anything you'll run across here in the Carolinas (and elsewhere). Hope we can catch up soon...

Nice set-up! It will serve you well. Congrats!

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

They are the best looking and tightest revolvers out there, IMHO.

One For Instance: the "cylinder window" in the frame is fit so exactly that you have to get everything "just right" to get the cylinder back in after cleaning.

An amazing feat of engineering and steel machining and craftsmanship!

Not to mention: pretty good caliber, too.

TNX for all the nice replies. It's nice to read about all your own firearms and exploits as well. Hey Dur, I would like to catch up one day in the field and see you go after some hogs. I figured I'd watch and see if I could outrun one before trying shooting one myself:)
