Pistol scope is better. I do groundhogs out to 400 yards with stock 14" Contender, 3-12X Burris, 25.0 gr. H322, 50 gr. BT.

That is very nice Rob!

WVHitman has a point.

From my experiences rifle scopes can be a challenge to use on a handgun. As long as you know that going into the challenge it helps. I did well with rifle scopes at the range and then folded in the field while shooting turtles and a couple of squirrels. I then switched back to using all handgun scopes. Not trying to discourage, shooting a handgun is hard enough, just throwing it out there… LOL

PS, now we need to see dead critters next to it!!!!

I much prefer rifle scope. I have factory 223 barrel with 3-9x rifle scope and its my fav gun to shoot. Ive shot woodchucks 100yds off hand..with the 223 still safe to get a full field of view on scope

I agree. I have tried the high magnification pistol scopes and do not like them at all. If I need much more than 4x to see my target I will choose a rifle scope.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

LOL...

FWIW, I sold my 3-9 Burris handgun scope because I couldn't handle it...

The Encore and Contender before it have both intriqued me but, don't think I could ever get used to the off balance of the grip being so far to the rear of the gun? Now, if Remington would start making the XP again with center grip......

I share your dream, but it is a fantasy.

Like getting Ruger to make a 5-hole bige bore.....

Being none of the Remington's or encore/contenders are for off had shooting . Balance is always a problem isn't it ? I will be using a shooting stick or sand bags . Unless a coyote catches me off hard . a friend has a pistol scope on his contender and its a pain two see through IMO . BUT i would like to check out the 12x Burris has sometime . i want to look trough one really good before i dump 400.00 on one .I already had the nikon 3 x 9 .p.223 sitting around . they are great scopes
