as some of you know I have a rear grip striker in 7WSM that resides in a XLR industries green (near olive) chassis. the action is stainless as is the brake but the barrel is chrome molly. I need to coat the metal still what what do you guys think.

black- duracoat or ceracoat
gunmetal grey- duracoat or ceracoat
carbon fiber- hydro dip
camo entire gun- hydro dip

open to other colors as well if you think it will look good let me know and ill consider it.

If you are going to leave the stock green do the action yellow . Then you can call it your John Deere pistol.

Cars have chassies
Polititions have platforms

Guns have stocks or grips.

Sorry, I am old school, If it goes bang or twang I like it,and you have some fine looking toys.

If all you're doing is the barrel, have it nitrided. I understand it comes out a nice grey.

I've used both Duracoat and Cerakote and in my opinion the Cerakote is much better than Duracoat or the other laquer based paints.

Corn and blue are Chimigan colors. Mother nature will never forgive you and you will shoot like an electric Amishman forever. Be warned!

Take a look at Brownell's Aluma-Hyde II.

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1117/Product/ALUMA-HYDE-reg-II

I used this recently to camo my AR15. It is an epoxy-based paint and doesn't require baking. Just clean and de-grease, heat weapon to 90 degrees (I just set mine in the sun for an hour), apply paint in even coats. It takes about 5 to 7 days to completely cure before you can add another color. You can use stencils if you like. I sprayed my base coat, then applied the top two colors using a sponge. It is very durable and is available in several colors.

I've had problems with the Aluma Hyde chipping out.

Tyler, I think the carbon fiber-hydro dip on the barrel and action would compliment the green frame.
