Does anyone have experience with Mag-Na-Brake on revolvers?? This brake is made by Mag-Na-Port International. Thank you in advance for your experience with this particular brake.

Mark,

I have one on a FA 454. It was installed several years ago( maybe 15). It does reduce the recoil (muzzle flip). On this particular caliber I would not opt to have another installed.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

If that brake has an expansion chamber, and I think it does, then I would be cautious about shooting gas checked bullets.

Mark, James has them on his 454 and 475 FA's; he praises them! I don't have the magnabrake, but I have a similiar one, by Reeder, on my 475; I'd say it reduced recoil 40-50%. James will probably elaborate more on the magnabrake.

I have one on a 454 BFR 7.5". Very effective and loud! I only use with jacketed bullets. Blackhawks get the 45 colts with lead bullets gc and plain. Mingokid

How well does the Mag-Na-Brake work on a .308 XP-100?

Wheeler45, I'm not sure in a 308 but I bet it would be great. I have two of them. One is on my 338JDJ and I wouldn't be shooting it if it didn't have the MagNaBreak on it. It is like shooting a 38spl with 180grn ballistic tips. On my 338JDJ barrel, I have the break and they sent a end cap if you don't want to shoot the break and a tool to remove and install.
The other is on my XP100 in 7-08 w/15" barrel. It is loud but sure helps on the recoil. The one on my XP is on there with lock tight.
This is just my opinion but I think you would be happier with a break like the Holland or Side discharge break for the 308. I have one on my .376 Steyr and one on my 260 XP and they are VERY good breaks. Here is what I'm talking about.

Here is my 338JDJ. I'm looking for my photo of the 7-08 XP.
