I bought a Pachmyar grip set a couple months a go. It was only shoot a couple times. Took it out yesterday and noticed it leaves black residue on my hands and the rubber has a split on top exposing metal on the inside.
Has anyone else experienced this?

RUG,

Which platform? Does the grip have a tacky consistency?

I have some Encore Pachmayr's that tend to leave some residue on my hands, particularly if I'm sweating. However, I've found that the Hogues feel stickier to me on my revolvers (as well as softer), but the models of both can break down if exposed to elements, prolonged heat, etc.

I would remove and clean with warm, soapy water and see if there's a film of sorts that can be removed. As far as the metal showing, sounds like something is amiss. You sure it's for the right gun/model?

It is for the G2 same as the frame. The rubber is split about 1/2 a inch or so above where my right thumb grips the grip.
The grip has a tacky feel. I have owned Pachmyars' for the original Contender and Encore frames. Never had this in the past.

I've never seen that in several sets for Contenders, G2's, and Encores, it sounds like you got a bad set. I'd contact pachmayr and I'm guessing they will make things right.

Received a new set today in the mail to replace the other set. Pretty good results.
