I was wondering about your experiences. Was it a challenging hunt? What were the conditions? What gun and load did you use?

10mmGuy poted his results of a Bison hunt he did back in Feb of '04 on the forum here. He took the Bison with a Glock 20 using an Optima2000, Glock 6" hunting barrel, and DoubleTap Ammo's 220gr hardcast Flat Point load. Maybe he will post details of his hunt for us <hint hint 10mmGuy>

Bigbore, I just killed a bison meat cow 2 weeks ago. As far as being a challenging hunt, it isn't. Bison aren't the smartest animal in the world. Once they are located, it isn't hard to sneak up on them for a good shot. They are tough as Hell, however. My 850# cow took 3 375 JDJ 270 Gr. Hornadys to the boiler room before dying. IMPRESSIVE!! Tasty, too.

If you think bison are easy try a wild bison in Delta Junction, Alaska. It ain't easy to get one, but a lot easier than getting the permit I suppose.

I contacted a place in SD and they want $1000 for a cow hunt. I don't think it's bad considering the 400#'s of boneless meat and price of bison meat at the markets.
If I go it will be next October and I'll use my 454 Casull.
