Well, I ordered a 6tcu barrel from Mike at OTT. My question is what do I do to make the time go by fast until I can get my hands on it?

Get about 10,000 once fired 223 and follow this procedure.

1. Use steel wool to clean the carbon from the necks.

2. Run'em through the case cleaner and then remove the cleaning media.

3. Size them.

4. Uniform the primer pockets with one of those reamer do-dads.

5. Deburr the flash holes.

6. Trim them all to length.

7. Clean them again.

8. Ship them to me. I'll pay half the shipping if you do a good job.

9. Should have your barrel by the time you finish this. Enjoy it.

Well Gman, I really do not know what to tell you. I ordered a barrel from OTT last year and it is just now on the way to me. From what I hear Mike does excellent work, and his barrels really shoot.

Good luck with the 6mm T/CU.

Larry

PS, I also sent you a PM concerning some brass.

Do you know what they use as a barrel blank? What is their approximate price for the 6mm TCU?

Larry, Greetings! When did you hear that your barrel is en route? I also hear he does good work, and that his barrels really shoot, and so I ordered a barrel last November. I had seen folks order barrels or send barrels to get rechambered, and their orders seemed to [and still seem to] get done pretty fast...I ordered mine Nov 29 2003 and I STILL don't have it.... I wonder if he's always this slow? It is hard to say - Some of the guys over on Specialty Pistols seem to always get their barrels from him pretty fast
At any rate, I am looking forward to finally seeing my barrel and seeing what it can do

Magman, from what I understand, OTT uses Douglas blanks unless you specify something different or supply your own blank. I believe he will work with and order just about anything you want. This, and his "no reamer" chamber process are the things that made me place my order last fall

Mike called me earlier in the week and said he was putting it in the mail that very day. I think mine was ordered in September (but would have to look it up to be sure). I know what you mean, when I ordered my barrel he said 6 weeks, and that would have put the delivery around Thankgiving. It is now past Thanksgiving.

Larry,

Did you get your barrel?

The thread related to DVH, OTT and several other barrel makers has literally exploded in the Single Shot Pistol Forum on AR.

I order a 22 lr step barrel from OTT and will be glad to wait for the excellent work. Bob the only reason its exploding is you are caring it where ever you can. Heck of a first post for me. I apologize to the board. I do care for friends and craftmen. I have a 221 Fireball barrel done by OTT and its a outstanding barrel. I have a 6mm by 30-30 rechamber carbine barrel and its also outstanding. I just ordered a 7tcu barrel and am willing to wait until heck freezes over if that what it took. One man shop and taking time to make sure its right is important to me. It is my goal to sell my other custom barrels and replace them with OTT barrels. I have no axe to grind and wish well to all. This is a very nice board and am proud to take part in it. Tommy from SW Mo

Larry,

Please let us know when the barrel arrives. It will be a pleasant change to see a committment kept as stated for a change in this ordeal. I know my patience with broken deadlines and indefinate delays is wearing thin....

Tommyn etal,

It is mostly about broken promises and the refusal to answer direct questions.

Mike made a promise and then another and then another and then another.... He didn't honor any of them and now refuses give us any sort of time committment at all....

Now he won't even answer direct questions.

I've never heard anyone doubt his quality or prices.

I appreciate you coming to his defense. Mike has a lot of friends and they have all defended him and that is admirable.

But that doesn't change the fact that we can't get any straight answers to direct and simple questions.

If saying that get's peoples feathers ruffled then maybe I shouldn't apologize but should ask people to wait and see if Mike starts coming forth with direct answers to direct questions.

We aren't trying to start a war or hurt anyone's business but it seems that bringing this issue to public forums has been our only way of getting any answers at all.

Sincerely,
$bob$

Friends,

All I can say is that Mike Sirois came through like the true gentleman, and responsible craftsman and businessman we all knew he was.

This issue turned negative and there were certainly some hard feelings created.

But Mike shrugged all that off and gave us a promise backed up by a money back guaranty that is more than fair.

He made no excuses... He just made a very fair offer and I'm truly humbled and impressed.

You're a true gentleman Mike!!!

Sincerely,
$bob$

Well, it's good to hear how passionate people are about the quality of Mike's work. That has led me to order a 6mm TCU barrel from him. As soon as I locate some dies and size some brass it's off to him to get the job started. It may take a while, but I'm ready to wait. Heck, I've waited over 3 months for a fore end from VVCG.
